Engineering Proyects
All done in my undergraduate studies, these projects showcase the variety and intersections of fields that mechatronics deals in, including programming, electronics, and mechanical design.
LSM Letter Translator
2017
This project was designed to recognize LSM (Mexican Sign Language) letters through a live video recording. It worked with image recognition functions in LabView with the intent of creating an interface that people could use to learn and practice the correct hand placement in LSM gestures. It was intended to be a technology to bridge gaps in communication and function as a learning tool for those interested in learning about those with hearing loss.
My main contirbution was the ideation and the implementation of the visual recongition logic.
Home Security Simulator
2018
This project was built with more stringent visual recognition to recognize several facial features, simulating a home security system that would allow you to open the door (simulated by our MDF home entrance) and would notify you through text message if somebody was trying to get in without proper recognition.
My main contribution was the work on the facila recognition and the creation of the home entrance.
Car with PID Controller
2018
This PID controller follower robot was designed to work with different systems of control, all while being able to stay a certain distance from its leader. On the left, we see the behavior of a proportional and derivative controller, and on the right, we see the behavior of a proportional-integral-derivative controller.
My main contribution to the project was working with the electronic components and the programming of the controller.
Electric Car Jack
2019
Here we see the creation of an electrical car jack, strong enough to lift a car.
My main contributions were to the mechanical building of the device and the CAD simulation representing the life-size prototype we created.
Pick and Place Robot
2020
One of our last laboratories involved creating a parallel robot with two degrees of freedom that could pick up and place small objects, in this case, coins.
Unfortunately, due to COVID, I was unable to participate in the building of this project, but my main contributions were working on the PID-controlled simulation of the movement and the CAD representation of the device, including the mechanical design of the picker.
